July 24, 2009-Kapit-Bisig Para sa Kabataan Project: Graduation Ceremony of Phase II and Province-wide Launching of Phase III at Protech Center, Koronadal City. A singing of the song entitled “The Prayer” followed by the Philippine National Anthem marked the commencement of the said activity.  Hon. Rene Jumilla, SP Chairman on Education, Science, Technology, Arts and Culture, gave his welcome address.  It was followed by the Presentation of the Accomplishments of Phase II of the project given by Ms. Margie Managuit, KBPK Project Officer of Mahintana Foundation, Inc.

Selected KBPK Partners from civic organizations and cooperatives were given a Plaque of Appreciation as a sign of gratitude for their unending support and commitment for the said endeavor.  Civic associations include the Rotary Club of Polomolok 101 and Koronadal and Kiwanis International Philippine South District while the partner-cooperatives consist of Cannery Multi-Purpose Cooperative (CAMPCO), Tibud sa Katibawasan-MPC (TSKMPC), Unified Engineering and Manpower Services-MPC (UEMSMPC), Tupi Integrated and Agricultural Cooperative (TIAC) and Dolefil Employees Cooperative Complex (DECCO).   One parent-beneficiary from Koronadal City gave a testimony on how her child was rehabilitated from malnourishment because of the interventions of Kapit-Bisig Para sa Kabataan Project.

kbpk4The second part is the Launching Ceremony of the Phase III of the project, which started with the presentation of the 3,017 beneficiaries in six (6) identified municipalities and one (1) city given by Mr. Felipe Velasquez, Agri-Divisions Director from Dole Philippines, Inc.  Mr. Velasquez emphasized that the Project, in its Phase III, will have its comprehensive focus on three (3) identified sustainability mechanisms: Health Education, Backyard Gardening and Identification of Livelihood Project though other project components will still be conducted.  Signing of the Memorandum of Agreement immediately followed with Mr. Alex Basco representing the Provincial Government of South Cotabato, Mr. Kevin Davis representing Dole Philippines, Inc. and Mr. Martiniano L. Magdolot representing Mahintana Foundation, Inc. with Managers and Presidents of partner-cooperatives and civic organizations.

Koronadal City followed.  Hygiene kits given were composed of nailcutter, toothbrush, toothpaste, iodized salt, slippers, soap and fine haircomb with a hygiene kit bag made out of sugar sacks produced by the Poblacion Parents Association (PPA) in Polomolok, one of the identified livelihood project of KBPK.  The hygiene kits were sponsored by our civic organizations, Rotary Club of Polomolok 101 and Koronadal, Kiwanis International Philippine South District and Dole Philippines, Inc.  In the middle of the activity, champorado with monggo from the Provincial Nutrition Office (PNO) were distributed to the beneficiaries with the Dole Pineapple Juice as sample supplemental feeding. The activity ended with closing remarks given by Ms. Ana Uy, Provincial Nutrition Officer III of South Cotabato.
