In celebration of its 40th Foundation Anniversary, Mahintana Foundation, in partnership with Dole Philippines, Inc. hosted the 9th Golf Tournament dubbed as “Palo Suporta Kontra Droga” on August 12-13, 2017 participated by ninety-eight (98) golf players coming from different business entities, partner organizations and key stakeholders. This event was organized in support of the program of the government in controlling the proliferation and abuse of illegal drugs in the country, especially in the Province of South Cotabato. All net proceeds will be used to support the construction and establishment of the “South Cotabato Drug Rehabilitation Center” within the compound of the Upper Valley Community Hospital in Surallah, S.C. The drug rehabilitation center shall be managed and operated by the Provincial Government of South Cotabato in close ocordination with other concerned agencies and institutions.

The first tee-off began on day 1 with 28 golf enthusiasts who participated in an 18-hole competition. The tournament continued the next day which started with 4 ceremonial tee shots performed by Mr. Yohei Kajikawa, Dolefil’s (ITOCHU) Industrial Operations Senior Analyst; Mr. Peter Hamilton, Dolefil’s Industrial Operations Director; Mr. Romulo Solivio, SP member; and Mr. Tony Gumapac. At least seventy (70) avid golfers joined the 2nd day tournament to showcase their golf skills while enjoying the camaraderie and meeting other golf players.

felt grateful with the unwavering support of Mahintana and Dolefil for organizing a fund-raising event to establish a Drug Rehabilitation Center to treat drug dependents and/or users. “As a Governor, my primary obligation is to make the province free from criminality and terrorism and this initiative can help build a safer and healthier community,” she said.

Mr. Randolph I. Fleming, Dolefil’s Vice President & Managing Director, was also pleased by the participation of everyone and the dedication of the organizers for making this noble endeavor a success.

As a fundraising event, a gross amount of P1.5 Million was raised from registration fees and sponsorships from 6 gold sponsors, 60 silver sponsors and 21 bronze sponsors. The players received minor and major door prizes and giveaways making the event more exciting and all the Golf Tournament winners were awarded with trophies.  Below is the list of winners in their respective classes:
