The Ridge to Reef Program has launched its Ma. Rosa Creek Rehabilitation Project last December 20, 2017 funded by MacEwen Falconer & Co. Ltd. and Dole Philippines, Inc. in partnership with LGU-Polomolok and the Municipal Cooperative Development Council (MCDC).

The aim of the project is to help reduce the flooding incidence in Polomolok through applying green technology such as earth matting and indigenous stone diking.

Different stakeholders represented by top officials and management attended the activity primarily from Dole Philippines, LGU Polomolok, BLGU Poblacion and different Puroks in Polomolok together with different cooperative chairpersons from UEWMPC, FARB, TSKMPC,CAMPCO, AMCOOP, and PMSC.

To mark the launching of the project, the stakeholders completed the installation of the indigenous stone dike through the piling of stones and covering it with used fish nets donated by RD Fishing industry. Afterwards, 100 hills of bamboo were planted within the earth matted areas.

The event was a ceremonial undertaking since the project has already started last Nov. 28, 2017 establishing 2,034 sq. meters of earth mat planted with 4,496 malabago stakes and 27,860 napier cuttings. Also, 152 meters of indigenous stone dike was installed with 257 bamboo/wooden poles._DSC0443_Fotor_Collage
