KBPK Launches in Municipalities

Subsequent to the successful KBPK Year V province-wide launch, Mahintana facilitated the Municipal Launches in Tupi, Tantangan, Lake Sebu, T’boli, and Banga, in coordination with the respective Municipal Nutrition Action Officers (MNAO) and Nutrition Aides. These launches were conducted in July, highlighting the Nutrition month celebration.
KBPK Launches Year 5

Reps. from the MLGUs of South Cotabato, Dole Philippines, Inc., Mahintana Foundation, Inc., partner-Cooperatives, and Civic Organizations during the KBPK Year V Provincial Launch
220 participants representing the MLGUs of South Cotabato, Dole Philippines, Inc., partner-Cooperatives, Civic Organizations, and beneficiaries took part in the Provincial Launch of Kapit Bisig Para sa Kabataan (KBPK) Year V, last May 19, 2011 at Brgy. Cannery Nursery, Asuncion, Polomolok, South Cotabato. The project aims to develop a community with well-nourished children, where interventions will focus on 3 identified sustainability mechanisms namely: Health Education of mothers through the conduct of “Pabasa sa Nutrisyon;” Backyard Gardening focused on establishing home and community-based food production; and identification of Livelihood project.
Mahintana conducts Municipal-wide Launchings of KBPK Project Phase III

With the successful conduct of the Graduation Ceremony and Province-wide Launching of KBPK Project last July 2009, Mahintana Foundation, Inc.,together with some of its donors and partners, began the City/Municipal-wide Launching of its Phase III. The four (4) identified municipalities and one (1) city where the said launchings were held were Surallah, Lake Sebu, T’boli, Tampakan and Koronadal City. Those series of activities which were facilitated by the City/Municipal Nutrition Action Officers (C/MNAO) together with their nutrition aides.
Toothbrush and toothpaste, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Polomolok 101, Rotary Club of Koronadal, and Dole Philippines, Inc. were distributed as part of the hygiene kits. After the end of every activity, Dole pineapple juice with Vitamin C content and biscuits or bread, given by Dole Philippines, Inc. as the major sponsor, were distributed to the children-beneficiaries, as their initial supplemental feeding.
The Nutrition Office of Koronadal City , under the leadership of Ms. Veronica Daot, was the first LGU to conduct its launching. It was held last August 20, 2009 at Barangay Sta. Cruz gym with a total of 63 participants including the Barangay Captains from the three (3) barangay-beneficiaries, Sta. Cruz, Morales and Zone III. Hon. Fernando Q. Miguel, City Mayor and Lt. Gov. Daniel Langga from Kiwanis International Philippine South District of Koronadal gave their inspirational messages during the program. At 2:00 pm of the same day,another launching was conducted at the Municipality of Surallah facilitated by the Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Neil Crespo who also happens to be the MNAO. Eighty (80) preschoolers, out of the 155 children-beneficiaries, attended the activity. The honorable Punong Barangays of the four (4) barangay-beneficiaries, Veterans, Tubi-Allah, Lamsugod and Buenavista were also present in the said activity.
Kapit Bisig Para Sa Kabataan (KBPK) Project conducts Graduation Ceremony and Province-wide Launching

July 24, 2009-Kapit-Bisig Para sa Kabataan Project: Graduation Ceremony of Phase II and Province-wide Launching of Phase III at Protech Center, Koronadal City. A singing of the song entitled “The Prayer” followed by the Philippine National Anthem marked the commencement of the said activity. Hon. Rene Jumilla, SP Chairman on Education, Science, Technology, Arts and Culture, gave his welcome address. It was followed by the Presentation of the Accomplishments of Phase II of the project given by Ms. Margie Managuit, KBPK Project Officer of Mahintana Foundation, Inc.
Selected KBPK Partners from civic organizations and cooperatives were given a Plaque of Appreciation as a sign of gratitude for their unending support and commitment for the said endeavor. Civic associations include the Rotary Club of Polomolok 101 and Koronadal and Kiwanis International Philippine South District while the partner-cooperatives consist of Cannery Multi-Purpose Cooperative (CAMPCO), Tibud sa Katibawasan-MPC (TSKMPC), Unified Engineering and Manpower Services-MPC (UEMSMPC), Tupi Integrated and Agricultural Cooperative (TIAC) and Dolefil Employees Cooperative Complex (DECCO). One parent-beneficiary from Koronadal City gave a testimony on how her child was rehabilitated from malnourishment because of the interventions of Kapit-Bisig Para sa Kabataan Project.
