PostHeaderIcon Provincial Launch of Wave II Family Planning Materials in Sarangani

With the theme 3-5 Taong Agwat, Dapat (3-5 years birth spacing), RHU Alabel spearheaded the provincial launching in Sarangani of Wave II Family Planning (FP) Materials last October 5, 2011. This was conducted in partnership with Mahintana Foundation, Inc., Dole Philippines, Inc., Kasilak Development Foundation, Inc. (KDFI), Conrado Ladislawa Alcantara Foundation, Inc. (CLAFI), World Vision, Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Sarangani, and LGU Alabel.

The event benefited 159 participants composed of pregnant women and men and women of reproductive age, of which 141 were beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or 4 Ps. Key messages delivered during the program proper aimed to educate parents on the importance and benefits of birth spacing in FP and to inform them of FP services available in the RHU.

In August 15, 2011, the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Banga spearheaded the National Lung Month celebration at the Municipal Plaza of Banga, South Cotabato, in partnership with the LGU of Banga, Kasilak Development Foundation, Inc., and Mahintana Foundation, Inc. through its USAID-URC, LLC-funded Health Promotion (HealthPro) and Communication project.

PostHeaderIcon PHO launches GP Caravan in Tboli, South Cotabato

More than 400 pre-school children and infants, together with more than 300 adults were assisted and provided with necessary health services during the Provincial Launching of the Garantisadong Pambata (GP) last April 13, 2010 at GP 1Barangay Kematu, Tboli, South Cotabato.  This GP Provincial Launch emphasizes the importance of healthy mothers and children as emphasized in its theme, “Mga paraan para maligtas and Bata:  Dalhin ang inyong mga anak: edad 6 na taon pababa sa Health Center para mabigyan ng Garatisadong Serbisyong Pangkalusugan.  The said GP Caravan started at the IPHO and proceeded to the City Health Office (CHO) of Koronadal City where the nurses and midwives from the said office joined the GP Team.  Other health service providers coming from the municipalities of Banga and Surallah also joined the team as the caravan passes through these municipalities.

The Department of Health, through the CHD XII and the Provincial Health Team (PHT) of South Cotabato in partnership with the Local Government Units, various local stakeholders supported the GP GP 2strategy which is aimed at reducing infant mortality rate in the province by improving the health status of children from six months to five years old.  GP provides a 4-in-1 health package which includes Vitamin A Supplementation, Immunization, Deworming, and Medical Consultation. PostHeaderIcon PHO Sarangani completes its IPCC Roll-out for HSPs and BHWs

Mahintana Foundation, Inc. was tapped by the University Research Co., LLC (URC) as their Local Replicating Agency (LRA) for Sarangani and South Cotabato provinces to implement the USAID-funded HealthPRO- Behavior Change 2nd IPCCCommunication Project piloting four the (4) municipalities of Sarangani and six (6) municipalities of South Cotabato. It is also worth noting that Sarangani Province is comprised of a number of Indigenous Peoples (IPs) such as the Tbolis, Bla-ans, Maguindanaons, etc.

As part of enhancing the Inter-Personal Communication and Counseling (IPCC) skills of the frontline Health Service Providers (HSPs) and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), the IPCC Training Team of Sarangani Province has completed the conduct of its HealthPRO-funded IPCC Skills Training for Health Service Providers (HSPs) and) for the priority LGUs of Malungon, Malapatan, Maasim and Maitum in the following schedules: March 1-3, 2010 IPC/C Skills Training for HSPS; and for BHWs and CHVs on March 9-11, 2010 for Malungon; April 6-8, 2010 for Malapatan; April 12-14, 2010 for Maasim and May 12-14 for MaitumRead the rest of this entry »
