MLMAs part of our institutional development strategies, Mahintana promotes partnership-building and encourage collaboration and cooperation alongside with other development players and stakeholders in assisting our target communities.  Partnership has made our interventions more interesting, meaningful, complete and efficient.

The year 2008 has been a good year for Mahintana in building new partnerships.  We have developed more projects from local initiatives in harmony with the concept of promoting Community Foundation, whose important features include the strong support of the business sector, civic clubs, cooperatives, professional groups, academe, LGUs among others.  These are our initial experiences in trying to emulate the principle of building community foundations in support of local development initiatives in the area.

Another new partnership was forged this year with the Delegation of the European Commission to the Philippines, through its €779,000 worth of assistance, of which €79,000 were generated from local counterpart, for the implementation of the Health and Economic Alternatives (HEAL) Project in five (5) provinces of South-eastern Philippines.  This project was also instrumental in building a consortium of NGOs to negotiate with partners.

At the institution level, as we take on the challenge of global financial melt-down, we are geared at upgrading our institutional capabilities by capacitating our new-hires and re-tooling our existing staff for more effective development approaches and to be more judicious in optimizing the resources accorded to us by donors and partners.

The active involvement of our partner LGUs, POs, donors and other stakeholders in helping us actualize the real essence of partnership at the community level, has inspired the Mahintana Board and its staff to continue its dynamism for community development efforts.   These are the kinds of efforts that will drive us in the years ahead and will help us move our mission of “helping communities help themselves”.  As always, we thank you for your generous support.
