Message from the President
“to get involved and continue in making a positive difference…”
Each year is a celebration of the foundation’s commitment to community development. There’s no time like the present, to get involved and continue in making a positive difference in the communities we are serving.
It doesn’t matter what organization we are. Every organization, whether governmental, private, non-profit, social, business, or whatever, has a responsibility to their community. Each may have different objectives, some may have similar objectives, but in carrying out their mission, they all have community responsibility.
In our 31st year of carrying out our community responsibility, Mahintana has made great strides in the fields of Environmental Renegeration & Conservation, Cooperative Development, Livelihood and Enterprise Support as well as in assisting the government in the delivery of Basic Social Services in various communities that we serve. In this report, perhaps, the most significant development of 2008 was the formalization of our partnership with the European Union – Delegation of the European Commission to the Philippines for the implementation of a €779,226-worth South-Eastern Philippines Health and Economic Alternatives (HEAL) Project in 15 barangays of 10 municipalities in four (4) provinces of South-Central Mindanao. Such project shall be implemented on-site in close partnership with local partner NGOs and the LGUs.
This annual report will give you a closer look at Mahintana’s myriad accomplishments in its various programs, as well as an update of our financial status and a glimpse of our future directions. Since our organization in 1977, we have made significant progress in “helping our communities help themselves”.
I wish to thank and appreciate the generous support of our partners, the leadership and vision of our board members and the dedication of our staff which have made all these accomplishments possible.
As we continue to face the financial challenges from rising costs and government budget cuts, our support is more important than ever to ensure that we can continue to provide care to future generations.
Thank you!
BIENVENIDO L. PEREZ
