Representing the RESOURCEGov Project, Project Bookkeeper Ms. Jovelyn L. Vilbar attended the CSO Conference and Selection of CSO Representatives to the Local Special Bodies on August 8, 2019 at the Municipal Conference Room, Municipal Bldg., Tampakan, South Cotabato attended by 67 participants (Male 39, Female 28). The activity aims to guide the CSOs in the accreditation process, learn the importance of the local CSO network and relevance of participatory governance, and select the CSO representatives for specific local special bodies.
The activity started with preliminaries. Municipal Administrator Ms. Minihaha D. Escobillo, LLB gave the opening remarks and MLGOO Ms. Marijovy Manzano presented the objectives and schedule of activities. The MLGOO also discussed about the Critical Importance of Participatory Governance. DILG 12 Community Development Officer Mr. Ruel Tuble, one of the project officers of RESOURCEGov Phase 1, shared the topics on Codal Avenues of Participation and Relevance of Local CSO Network. He emphasized that a network is important because it can help achieve common goals faster and better. He said that there is strength in numbers when it comes to working towards the goal. He also shared that participatory government is promoted, thus, CSOs are encouraged to be accredited and join the local special bodies such as the Local Development Council, Local School Board, Local Health Board, Bids and Awards Committee, Local Peace and Order Council, and People’s Law Enforcement Board. Indigenous People’s Mandatory Representative (IPMR) Hon. Collado Domingo presented the Guidelines on LGU Accreditation. At the end of the presentations, the body selected the representatives to the local special bodies.
