RESOURCEGov Project supports CSO Conference in Lake Sebu

The RESOURCEGov Phase 2 Project Documenter Ms. Lorielyn P. Patoc attended the CSO Conference and Selection Representatives to the Local Special Bodies (LSBs) on August 20, 2019 at El Galong Waterpark Resort, Lake Sebu, South Cotabato. The activity was attended by 37 participants (Male 17, Female 20). The CSO conference aims to encourage and assist the CSOs in the accreditation process and pre-select possible representatives to the LSBs.

MPDO Engr. Rex Salvador-Espigar gave the opening remarks saying that the CSOs’ participation is very important to the LGUs for they are part of the catalyst of change and that they must be seen as “helpers” rather than “kontra-gobyerno” or against the government. He also presented the schedule of the accreditation process. MLGOO Ms. Maria Fe Soto presented a video “Bantay Korapsyon” that discusses the government’s efforts against corruption encouraging the citizens to change themselves and be part of the change. She then presented the Relevance of Participatory Governance. DILG South Cotabato Community Development Officer Mr. Ruel Tuble, also former RESOURCEGov Project Officer, shared the Code-Mandated Avenues and discussed the different local special bodies which can be participated by CSOs. During the presentation, the CSOs raised questions about the members of Local School Board, the Special Education Fund (SEF) and other concerns showing their interest in participating in the LSBs. After, SB Secretary Mr. Rene T. Landayong presented the Guidelines for CSO Accreditation. He said that accreditation necessary to be recognized by the LGU and can participate to the LSBs. In the afternoon, the MLGOO Ms. Soto, CSO Desk Designate Ms. Nenita Kinan and Mr. Tuble facilitated the pre-selection of possible representatives to the LSBs.
