ITOCHU Partners join MFI’s environmental advocacy

On January 22, 2020, guests from ITOCHU Corporation led by Mr. Kotaro Ohno, Audit and Supervisory Board member, Mr. Shuzaburo Tsuchihashi, Audit and Supervisory Board member, Mr. Minoru Niino, Agri Products Dept., Mr. Shinya Watanabe, Dole Asia Holdings and Mr. Tetsuya Kitae, Agri Products Dept. accompanied by Mr. Nicholaos Yiannakis, VP & Managing Director of Dolefil and Mr. Kajikawa Yohei, Industrial Planning Director of Dolefil visited Mahintana for the orientation on the programs and activities of the institution on community development as a CSR arm and affiliate of Dole Philippines, Inc.

After the orientation and presentation of program and accomplishments, the guests participated the ceremonial tree growing activity of bagras seedlings to take part on the advocacy of the foundation on environmental protection and conservation. Earlier that day, the guests visited the pineapple plantation, cannery and packing plants, DGP Community, Adopt-a-School building in Perfecto B. Salada Elementary School, and Chairs-for-Trees fabrication in Unified Eng’g.

Mahintana participates in BLGU Cannery BDRMMC Meeting

Mahintana Foundation Inc. participated the 2020 Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (BDRRMC) Plan Meeting of BLGU-Cannery Site at Session Hall, Brgy. Cannery Site, Polomolok on January 22, 2019. A total of 22 participants attended from BLGU-Cannery Site Council, BFP-Polomolok, Dole Philippines, DepEd and the religious sector.

The meeting aims to present the BDRRMC Plan focused on disaster risk prevention and mitigation measures such as construction and improvement of flood control structures, reforestation of gullies, and IEC campaigns and capacity development of communities on disaster preparedness and response.

RESOURCEGov Project orients the South Cotabato 1st Congressional District Office

The RESOURCEGov 2 Project had another opportunity to share the project interventions to the 1st Congressional District of South Cotabato led by Hon. Shirlyn Bañas-Nograles on January 22, 2020. Represented by the project manager Mr. Roel Ian Blanker, the meeting with Mr. Malvin Hatulan and their staff was all about exploring the potentials of the Open Data Kit (ODK) system in addressing the project monitoring issues in the district which covers General Santos City and the municipalities of Polomolok, Tupi and Tampakan. The ODK orientation led to various possible uses of ODK such as profiling, mapping and other data collection requirements of the congressional district. As to date, there are no systems yet tailored to the data gathering needs of the district office. Both parties agreed to conduct a two-day ODK training workshop on February 7-8, 2020.

Cong. Nograles during her previous term as the Vice-Mayor of General Santos City is a project partner under the Legislative Information Tracking System (LITS) intervention. The same team responsible for the implementation of LITS will be trained with ODK.

Lake Sebu uses ODK in RPTax Mapping

To help the LGUs enhance their local revenue, the RESOURCEGov 2 Project rolled out real property tax (RPTax) mapping trainings using the ODK and Tableau systems. Project Coordinator Mr. Kurt Jurgen Von Lumbao and Project Officer Mr. Jan Solomon Edrozo conducted the RPTax Mapping orientation and mock mapping on January 20-22, 2020. The activity was participated by MLGOO Maria Fe T. Soto, Municipal Assessor Engr. Aurelio B. Alon and 10 enumerators coming from the Mun. Assessor’s Office who mapped 92 properties (Male 9, Female 3).
