Groundbreaking ceremony ushers in the Mahintana Resource Center

On March 8, 2021, Mahintana Foundation, Inc. (MFI) invited partners and guests to the groundbreaking ceremony at French (Dahlia) St., Polomolok, South Cotabato.

Notable guests included Mr. Carlos Baldostamon, Jr., Chairperson of MFI Board of Trustees, Mr. Nicholaos Yiannakis, VP and Managing Director of Dole Philippines, Inc., Ms. Nilda Almencion, the Managing Consultant of Unified Engineering Workers Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Mr. Laurence Griño, Municipal Administrator of Polomolok, Mr. Martiniano Magdolot, MFI President, and Ms. Liza Hora, MFI Executive Director.

Rev. Fr. Greto Bugas opened the groundbreaking ceremony with a prayer.

For the rationale, Ms. Hora highlighted the Mahintana Resource Center will be housing its programs particularly: the Nutripan Bakery and Commissary in preparation for reaching new areas and its expanding role in feeding programs of the government, HEALTH Plus and its warehouse for pharmaceutical supplies and distribution to nearby provinces, the environmental program and renewable energy solutions, and in support to the continuing partnership with local governments through the institution building and governance program.

Mr. Yiannakis representing Dole Philippines, Inc. emphasized the evolving process of Mahintana to engage in social enterprise—a leap from its donor-driven projects; Nutripan and HEALTHPlus have high potential in terms of sustainability. He gave recognition to how the Foundation explores its elements to better serve nearby communities and expressed Dolefil’s continuing support to the Foundation’s programs.

For his message of support, Mr. Baldostamon shared Mahintana’s religious beginnings—how the Foundation can bear fruit and continue to be a blessing to its partners, donors, and stakeholders.

Together with guests and MFI staff, Rev. Fr. Bugas blessed the groundbreaking site and the entire Mahintana Resource Center lot.

Closing the program on a grateful note, Mr. Magdolot gave thanks to the guests and partners present, highlighted the donation of Sarangani Resources Corporation, congratulated the staff for contributing to the preparations and proposal of the resource center, and for the group to look forward to the blessing and opening of the Mahintana Resource Center soon.
