BLGU Poblacion Polomolok Celebrates its 79th Foundation Anniversary with Tree Growing Activity

In celebration of 79th Foundation Anniversary and 11th Malambuon Festival, the BLGU Poblacion, Polomolok conducted a tree growing activity in partnership with LGU Polomolok, Dole Philippines, Inc., and Mahintana Foundation, Inc. at Riverside, Prk. Malinawon, Brgy. Poblacion, Polomolok, on November 24, 2018. A total of 300 hills of bamboo were planted at the mentioned site. 124 individuals participated the activity. The BLGU – Poblacion, Polomolok agreed to monitor their area periodically and report to MFI the status of the plants. Also, the BLGU have designated an individual to monitor the area which will receive monthly grocery supplies from the BLGU.

CCCE PAG PR- RESOURCEGov Peer Learning Exchange conducted in RESOURCEGov Areas

PHILDHRRA, as the implementer of EU-funded CCCE PAG-PR Project, tapped Mahintana to conduct the CCCE PAG-PR- RESOURCEGov Peer Learning Exchange on November 19-21, 2018 to the RESOURCEGov-assisted LGUs. The learning activity aims to replicate the best practices of the LGUs in South Cotabato and Sarangani including the use of ODK/Qlik?LITS Systems, revenue generation and The PHILDHRRA Team, headed by its National Coordinator Ms. Caridad R. Corridor and Regional Coordinators, and the LGU and CSO representatives from 27 LGUs of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.  Around 60 participated in the said peer learning exchange activity.

The 1st day was orientation and division of the participants to 3 groups. Ms. Corridor gave the welcome address and PHILDHRRA Regional Coordinator for Visayas Mr. Hally Atienza presented the house rules. RESOURCEGov Project Manager Mr. Roel Ian P. Blanker oriented the participants about the RESOURCEGov 2 Project and introduced Mahintana Foundation Inc. through its video briefer. Group 1’s facilitators are RESOURCEGov Project Manager Mr. Blanker and PHILDHRRA Regional Coordinator from Luzon Ms. Germaine De Runa. Group 2’s facilitators are RESOURCEGov 2 Project Documenter Ms. Lorielyn P. Patoc and PHILDHRRA Regional Coordinator for Mindanao Mr. Mr. Glenn Bais. Group 3’s facilitators are RESOURCEGov Project Officer Mr. Byron Delandrino and CCCE PAG PR Project Manager Ms. Katlea Zarra Itong. On the 2nd day, Group 1 visisted LGU Polomolok, South Cotabato and LGU Tampakan, South Cotabato. Group 2 went to LGU Polomolok, South Cotabato and LGU Maasim, Sarangani. Group 3 went to LGU Tampakan, South Cotabato and LGU Lake Sebu, South Cotabato. ODK, Qlik and LITS systems sparked the interest of the participants as they were presented by LGUs assisted by the RESOUCEGov Project.

Moreover, Municipal Economic Enterprise Development Office (MEEDO) was featured during the visit to LGU Tupi. On the last day, each group presented their participants’ learnings, impression and action plans from community exposure. They expressed their high hopes in replicating the best practices and that there will be a CCCE PAG-PR Project Phase 2.

BLGU Dadiangas West conducts Tree Growing Activity

A tree growing activity at Silway – Fatima Riverside, Brgy. Dadiangas West, Gensan on November 21, 2018. A total of 300 hills of bamboo were planted at the mentioned site. 62 Persons Who Used Drugs (PWUD) of Brgy. Dadiangas West participated the activity as part of their “Cash-for-Work” Program initiatives. The BLGU agreed to monitor their area periodically and report to Mahintana the status of the plants. Also, the BLGU have designated an individual to monitor the area which will receive monthly grocery supplies from the BLGU.

RESOURCEGOV PIP for Years 2&3 discussed during PIT-PMT Meeting

 RESOURCEGov 2 Team conducted its PIT-PMT Meeting on November 16, 2018 at Waterfront Insular Hotel, Lanang, Davao City. It was attended by 33 (Male 13, Female 20) project staff from Mahintana, MINCODE, AADC, Kasilak, PhilDHRRA, and partner DILG of Regions 11, 12 and 13.

The meeting started a prayer led by Project Cashier Ms. Rhogelyn G. Diana. Project Manager Mr. Roel Ian P. Blanker gave the welcome address. DILG 11 MLGOO for New Bataan Ms. Rosalie Agunod and DILG 13 Provincial Director for Surigao del Sur Mr. Pedrito Alacaba spoke their messages of support and gratitude. Security Dept. Supervisor Mr. Charlie Jose oriented the participants of the Hotel Safety and Emergency and the house rules. Mr. Blanker then presented the Project Implementation Plan (PIP) for Years 2 & 3.

During the presentation, comments and suggestions from the body were welcomed. Partnered form DILG were also encouraged to speak and comment on the activities and schedules. MLGOO Ms. Gultiano suggested to do the CSO activities on the 2nd quarter to prepare them for the call of accreditation 90 days after the election period. It was agreed by the body to efficiently implement the empowerment of CSOs. After the lunch break, Project Bookkeeper Mr. Jason Inot presented the Consolidated Spending Plan. Partners raised their financial concerns. After reaching the agreements, MINCODE Executive Director and Project Coordinator Ms. Raizsa Mae Anayatin presented the key agreements.

 

LGU Tagbina benchmarks LGU Lambayong and LGU President Quirino

 

RESOURCEGov 2 Team composed of Project Officers Mr. Kurt Jurgen Von D. Lumbao, Ms. Myra Macla and Ms. Llenie Grace Cebuala and Project Documenter Ms. Lorielyn P. Patoc, facilitated the learning visit of LGU Tagbina to the two existing partners of the project in Sultan Kudarat Province: LGUs Lambayong and President Quirino. It was attended by 43 (Male 21, Female 22). LGU Tagbina Team was spearheaded by Vice Mayor Hon. Antonio Adlaw and included the department heads and their respective staff.

The benchmarking activity aims to help LGU Tagbina to replicate the best practices of LGU Lambayong and LGU President Quirino particularly on the use of ODK-based forms to increase revenue collection.  Lambayong Mayor Hon. Ramon Abalos welcomed the delegates and joined the body during the presentation. Business Permits and Licensing Officers (BPLO) of both municipalities presented how ODK has helped them increase their revenue collection by mapping business establishments using the forms they had generated. They entertained and answered questions asked by the visitors.

Mahintana Staff undergoes Fire Drill

November 12, 2018 – Mahintana staff underwent Fire Drill exercises after the monthly staff meeting. This activity aims to educate and train the staff about fire prevention and suppression. Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Polomolok Fire Station (PFS) Plans and Training Chief FO2 Rechie Guilaran and SFO1 Ruben D. Salvan. A short orientation on Workers’ Information on Safety and hazard and Fire Safety Program in the workplace was conducted.

For a practical drill, the fire officers set up a fire outside the building to simulate a situation where a fire extinguisher can be used. Each participant was given a certificate of participation after.

Philippine College of Physicians conducts Tree Growing Activity

At least 12 medical doctors, staff and interns from Howard Hubbard Memorial Hospital and Bontuyan Medical Hospital spearheaded by Philippine College of Physicians planted 150 hills of bamboo at Field 103, Prk. Dignadice, Poblacion, Polomolok on Nov. 8, 2018. The activity was done in celebration of the Annual National Day of Rising (House Bill 4981) and to protect Ma. Rosa Creek from further erosion.

HEALTH Plus Project conducts Values Orientation on Leadership and Teamwork

To continually support the development of its staff, HEALTH Plus Project conducted Values Orientation on Leadership and Teamwork and PPF & HPSiS Team Meeting on November 6-7, 2018 at hacienda Don Juan, Brgy. Lago, Glan, Sarangani. This activity aims to provide updates to the team on the accomplishments of HPSiS from January to October 2018, document gaps and challenges on the implementation of HEALTH Plus. It also aims to enhance knowledge and skills on leadership, influence and teamwork leading to an improved performance between and among PPF and HPSiS staff.  It was attended by 18 participants from Mahintana management, PPF core staff and team leaders of HPSiS outlets in the Provinces of South Cotabato and Sarangani and City of General Santos.

Ms. Luzviminda T. Herezo, the invited resource speaker, talked about emotional intelligence and work excellence, leadership and management with an application through structured learning exercises and problem solving.  Individual exercises include:  (1) Leadership Awareness Inventory to identify and differentiate their function as a leader or manager; 2) Solidarity and Commitment Exercise through an object that defines one’s personality; and (3) Commitment renewal as a member of the HEALTH Plus team.

Mahintana visits Dole Korea

Mahintana President & CEO Mr. Martiniano L. Magdolot, Admin & Finance Ms. Liza D. Hora, Operations Manager Mr. Jobe C. Tubigon and South Cotabato Gov. Daisy Avance-Fuentes met with the top management of Dole Korea on Nov. 7, 2018. During the meeting, the management presented the products and that the Philippines is the leading country exporter of the Dole products in South Korea. Also. Dole Korea Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) focus on education and the environment. Gov. Fuentes committed to support infrastructure projects in Region 12 that will help Dole Philippines, Inc. continue its service to export world-class Dole products.

The team visited few of South Korea tourism sites to benchmark these tourism spots.
